This poster was created for one of the first assignments of the 1st semester. We were to do a band/gig poster in a style of artwork called "Naive". Other keywords you would use this style could be "vintage" or even "hipster", because of the colors and use of shapes and effects.
I love 90's East Coast hiphop, so even though the most examples of the style we got were from indie/alternative artists, I still chose to create a gig poster for someone in that genre. I had a few ideas but ended up finding this really nice picture of one of my favorite acts of that era, Das EFX.
As soon as I saw the photo, I knew that I wanted to create a sunburst effect, make Dray and Skoob, as the two members are called, look a little more cartoon-like and use quite warm colors, so I quickly putted something together that I liked. Bonus-info: I drew up their logo again from the bottom and changed the font, to put my own twist on it and get a higher resolution.
